Spotify Installation and Code Scanning Guide for Kids and Parents

Installing Spotify on Android or iOS

For Android:

1. Open the Google Play Store: Find the Play Store app on your phone or tablet. It looks like a white bag with a colorful triangle. Or scan (or click) this QR code to go directly to Spotify in the Play Store:
   
2. Search for Spotify: Tap the search bar at the top, type "Spotify," and press the search button (magnifying glass).
3. Find the App: Look for the Spotify app (green circle with three black curved lines). It should say "Spotify: Music and Podcasts."
4. Install It: Tap the green "Install" button. Wait for it to download and install (this might take a minute).
5. Open Spotify: Tap "Open" from the Play Store, or find the Spotify app on your home screen and tap it.
6. Sign In or Sign Up: Ask a parent to log in with their Spotify account or create a new one. You can use an email or phone number to sign up.

For iPhone or iPad (iOS):

1. Open the App Store: Find the App Store app on your phone or tablet. It’s a blue icon with a white "A." Or scan (or click) this QR code to go directly to Spotify in the App Store:
   
2. Search for Spotify: Tap the search icon (bottom right, looks like a magnifying glass), type "Spotify," and tap "Search."
3. Find the App: Look for the Spotify app (green circle with three black curved lines). It should say "Spotify - Music and Podcasts."
4. Install It: Tap the "Get" button, then tap "Install." You might need a parent to enter their Apple ID password.
5. Open Spotify: Tap "Open" from the App Store, or find the Spotify app on your home screen and tap it.
6. Sign In or Sign Up: Ask a parent to log in with their Spotify account or create a new one. You can use an email or phone number to sign up.

Scanning a Spotify Code

A Spotify Code is like a special picture (like a QR code) that takes you to a playlist or song. You’ll need the Spotify app installed to scan it.

On Android:

1. Open Spotify: Tap the Spotify app on your phone or tablet.
2. Go to Search: Tap the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of the screen.
3. Find the Camera: In the search bar at the top, tap the camera icon on the right side.
4. Point at the Code: Hold your phone so the camera can see the Spotify Code (it looks like a wavy pattern under a song or playlist name). Make sure the code is clear and well-lit.
5. Tap the Playlist: When the code scans, Spotify will show the playlist or song. Tap it to open and press the play button to listen!

On iPhone or iPad (iOS):

1. Open Spotify: Tap the Spotify app on your phone or tablet.
2. Go to Search: Tap the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of the screen.
3. Find the Camera: In the search bar at the top, tap the camera icon on the right side.
4. Point at the Code: Hold your device so the camera can see the Spotify Code (it looks like a wavy pattern under a song or playlist name). Keep it steady and in good light.
5. Tap the Playlist: Once scanned, Spotify will show the playlist or song. Tap it to open and press the play button to listen!

Tips for Parents

• Supervise Sign-Up: Help your child create or log into a Spotify account. You can use a free account or a premium one if you have it.
• Check the Playlist: Before letting your child listen, open the playlist from the Spotify Code to make sure the songs are appropriate.
• Need Help?: If the code doesn’t scan, try taking a screenshot of the code, then in the Spotify app, tap the camera icon, select the screenshot from your photos, and scan it from there.
